The Essential Boom Stand with counterweight sandbag is ideal for many professional applications in film and photo business.
This stand can be used as a normal tripod light stand or boom stand, thanks to its convenient mounting lock, which is made of sturdy die-casting metal. When used as stand, it has the maximum height of 400cm.
When used as a boom stand, the mounting lock allows you to adjust the tilting and rotation of the boom arm. The locking lever provides the necessary security for the boom arm that can be extended up to 180cm when needed. The boom is also equipped with a inter-changeable 1/4 and 5/8 inch spigot, the counterweight sandbag can be used using hooks on the other end of the boom arm.

What is the sizeof this when fully folded?
- The folded height of this boom stand is approximately 119cm.
What is the best material to use to fill the Sandbag with?
- Pixapro Sandbags can be filled with a wide variety of different material, including Sand or Gravel, which you can pick up from most DIY stores or Builders merchants (we recommend placing the sand or gravel in a small plastic bag before putting it into the sandbag). Some people also use steel ball bearings to fill their sandbags with.
Can the boom arm be removed from the stand, so if I wanted my assistant to hand-hold a light for a while?
- Unfortunately the boom for this stand cannot be removed, this is due to the boom being fixed to the stand.

The fact that you can use this as a boom as well as a regular light stand is what drew me to it. Construction appears to be very sturdy and even though I haven't used it in anger yet, I'm confident this will do the job and then some. Highly recommended.

Strong enough for me. I even used it in boom-stand condition with a LED 100D and a softbox 90cm attached without the need of a counterweight (bag provided but not the weight itself).
