What's the Difference between the Godox AD400Pro and the new AD400Pro II?

Godox continue their popular AD Flash Range upgrades with the announcement of the new Godox AD400Pro II! Succeeding the original AD400Pro with some quality changes, the MKII is available at the same RRP as it's predecessor at £662.99, so you don't have to worry about whether to spend more for the snazzy new model.

All the features you know and love

The AD400Pro II keeps all the same features you're familiar with! Including:

  • Godox Mount AND Bowens S-Type Fitting compatibility
  • Extension head options (same H400P model)
  • 400ws Output
  • HHS & TTL Features
  • X-System Trigger Compatibility and 2.4Ghz Receiver

So what's different?

Flash Output Range

The AD400Pro II features an extended flash power range – now adjustable from 1/1 full power down to 1/512 in 10-stop increments. Compared to the original AD400Pro’s 1/256 minimum output, this offers twice the low-end flexibility, making it perfect for fine-tuning your lighting in studio and on-location environments.

Upgraded Groups

Say goodbye to group confusion! The AD400Pro II now supports up to 16 groups, up from 5 in the original model. Each group is colour-coded on both the flash unit and the Godox X3 trigger, allowing you to instantly identify and manage multiple lights during complex setups with ease.

X3 One-Tap Connectivity

While both AD400 models include the built in Godox 2.4GHz wireless system, the new AD400Pro II introduces One-Tap Sync with the Godox X3 Trigger. Just tap the sync icon on the X3 and the flash – they’ll pair in seconds without manually setting channels or IDs. It’s seamless connectivity for modern workflows.

User Interface and Screen Upgrades

The high-resolution TFT colour screen on the AD400Pro II replaces the older backlit LCD, offering improved brightness, clarity, and contrast. Whether you're shooting in a dark studio or a sunlit location, your settings are always visible and easy to navigate.

Modelling Lamp Upgrade

The upgraded 30W Bi-Colour LED modelling lamp (2800K–6000K) delivers flexible continuous lighting for both stills and video. Use it to fill shadows, warm up your scene, or even as a standalone light source. It’s fully dimmable from 10% to 100%, giving you complete control over ambient lighting.

Improved Battery Capacity

The MKII also has a larger battery capacity, now able to support up to 460 full powered flashes per full charge, compared to 390 previously. More shots means longer shoots, less battery stress and fewer battery cycles!
