SwitPL-S150L 150W Long Ratio Bi-Colour SMD LED Light

The SWIT PL-S150L is a 150W bi-colour SMD LED panel designed specifically for studios where ceiling height and available shooting space are limited. Its distinctive 3 × 0.5ft long-ratio design reduces the vertical space occupied by the fixture compared with a conventional 2 × 1ft panel. This allows the light to be installed closer to the ceiling, helping keep fixtures out of camera framing and opening up more shooting angles in compact studios.

Despite its narrow profile, the PL-S150L produces 4800 lux at 1 metre with a broad, soft 69° half-peak beam. Colour temperature is continuously adjustable from 2700K to 6500K, while CRI 97, TLCI 99 and SSI (D55) 73 provide high-quality colour reproduction for camera work. The fixture is also completely fanless, making it particularly useful in smaller studios where microphones may be positioned close to the lighting installation.

How it works

Designed for low ceilings

Conventional 2 × 1ft panels can occupy a significant amount of vertical space when suspended in a low-ceiling studio. This can reduce available camera angles and increase the likelihood of lighting fixtures entering the frame. The PL-S150L uses a much longer and narrower 3 × 0.5ft format, measuring 837 × 159 × 107mm overall. This allows the fixture to sit closer to the ceiling and maintain a less obtrusive presence above the set. For compact studios, this translates into more freedom when positioning cameras and composing shots.

360° pan-and-tilt adjustment

The supplied mounting system incorporates a 360° pan-and-tilt ball-head bracket, allowing the installation angle to be adjusted without requiring the fixture to occupy unnecessary additional space. This makes it easier to direct the light towards presenters, sets or backgrounds after installation.

4800 lux of soft output

The 150W PL-S150L produces 4800 lux at 1 metre with a 69° half-peak beam angle. Its broad, soft output allows it to be used in several roles, including key lighting, head lighting and background illumination in studios and conference spaces.

2700K–6500K bi-colour control

The PL-S150L incorporates both 2700K and 6500K LEDs and provides continuously adjustable colour temperature across the 2700K–6500K range. The fixture maintains a 150W output at any colour temperature within this range, allowing it to adapt to warmer interior lighting, daylight-balanced environments and mixed studio setups.

CRI 97, TLCI 99 and SSI D55 73

For camera-based production, colour quality is rated at CRI Ra 97, TLCI 99 and SSI (D55) 73. This high colour rendition helps maintain natural-looking subjects and accurate colours on camera, making the fixture suitable for broadcast and professional video production.

Smooth exponential dimming

The PL-S150L uses a non-linear exponential dimming curve designed to provide finer control at low output levels. At the 1% dimmer setting, output is equivalent to approximately 0.3% of full intensity. This provides more gradual adjustment at the bottom of the dimming range, where small changes can otherwise appear more noticeable to the eye.

Fanless operation for quiet studios

The PL-S150L uses a fanless heat-dissipation design that allows operation at full power without active cooling fans. For small studios where lights may be close to microphones, presenters or interview subjects, removing fan noise helps maintain a quieter environment for audio recording.

Control and display

A rear LCD provides information including:

The controls also provide access to DMX addressing and Group interactive control mode. A long press of the dimmer control allows the DMX address to be set, while a long press of the colour-temperature control switches between DMX console operation and Group interactive control.

Flexible power options

The PL-S150L supports a wide 12–36V DC input range through its 3-pin XLR connection. An on-board V-mount plate allows compatible batteries to be used for portable power. The supplied AC-DC adaptor can also be mounted to the V-mount plate, keeping the power solution integrated with the fixture when operating from mains electricity.

Photobiological safety

The PL-S150L has been tested and certified as “Exempt – No Photobiological Hazard” under IEC 62471:2008. This makes the fixture suitable for environments where photobiological light exposure is an important consideration, including studios as well as specialist locations such as museums, churches and historic buildings.
