Godox V1 vs the new Godox V1 Pro
The Godox V1 Roundhead Speedlite is a super popular on-camera flash option, especially for those working the events and wedding photography circuits, as it's a handy, flattering flash with TTL and HSS features which make it great for capturing beautiful images on the go. Just announced in January 2024, the V1 Pro is the successor of the V1 speedlite, with a range of upgraded features that make the Pro version even more handy than before. So, what are the differences between the two models? Find our comparison below to help you choose whether to stick with the V1, or upgrade to the Pro version.
V1 Pro
The Godox V1 PRO Speedlite is an updated version of the V1, and is a powerful Lithium-ion battery-powered Round-Head TTL flash which features a round flash head to produce smooth-gradated lighting, with natural-looking fall-off, and more pleasing results. Commonly used for events and on location, the V1 speedlites have many uses and are great on-camera or off-camera.
The V1 Pro has a range of upgraded and new features designed to aid photographers. Here are the key upgrades made on the V1 Pro model:
Up to 100 Continuous Full-Powered Shots
Breaking free from the constraints of thermal protection, the Godox V1 Pro can now produce a staggering one hundred full-powered consecutive flashes, allowing your creativity to run wild without missing any key moments.
Detachable Fill Flash
The V1 Pro now features the revolutionary detachable fill flash, the SU-1 attachment, This allows a single V1 Pro to serve as both the bounce flash and fill flash simultaneously. Its detachable design also gives you a more compact and lightweight flash solution when required, and reduces the need for an extra light or modifier.
From TTL to Manual
Now featuring a handy TTL-Manual switch, the V1 Pro allows you to easily flip between manual and TTL shooting on the go and allowing for flexible adaptation during shooting environments.
Updated Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery
While still compatible with the VC26 Charging Dock, the new VB30 battery also features a Type-C charging port which allows for on-the-go recharging if your battery is low mid-shoot! This gives you the option to even charge your speedlite as you shoot with a USB power bank.
The upgraded battery also now can offer up to 500 full-powered shots per full charge, over the V1's 480 shots.
Power Pack Port
The V1Pro features an extra power port, enabling you to connect it to one of the Godox flash power packs such as the PB960 (available separately). This adds an extra layer of assurance during fast-paced on-location shoots.
