Comparing Godox Projector Systems

With the announcement of further expansions to Godox's impressive flash and LED equipment ranges comes further releases for projectors and accessories for these lights. But as the spotlight projector collection grows, it can be difficult to figure out the differences between these, and figure out which one is most suited to your lights and your shoots. So, we've broken down the key differences below so you can pick your projector with confidence.

What is a spotlight projector for?

Spotlight projector attachments are used to, quite simply, project a spotlight effect with your light. They work to focus the light, using a cylindrical shape length with a lens inside to focus the light into a tighter, round circular shape rather than the wider, less controlled spread of light you'll get when working with barebulb or with a standard reflector.

Spotlights allow you to create dynamic shapes, and also use "gobos" to cast a shadow pattern onto your background or subject.

Why are there so many Godox projector attachments?

Quite simply, Godox have a lot of different spotlights as each one is best suited to different model of light. This can be anything from whether the projector is designed for flash or LED (flash projectors need space by the mount to accommodate for flash tubes), if it's designed for specific light modifier fittings, or whether it's designed for larger lights and therefore needs a yoke design for safe mounting.

None of these really work for me...

Not to worry. It's possible that your lights are better suited to something like an Optical Snoot. These are most commonly used for flash units, but are great as they have a selectable interchangeable fitting for other light brand compatibility, and also can be used with LED.

Or, for something a bit more budget-friendly, the manual conical snoot also has an interchangeable fitting and will project a basic spotlight effect with your light.
