It can be used as a traditional strip softbox to rim lighting your subject in a horizontal or vertical orientation. The Arc Strip softbox has the added bonus of being concaved at the front, which produces unique wrap-around lighting, filling in the shadows under the chin and producing unique wrap-around catchlights in the eyes of your subject when used as part of a clamshell set-up.
