FAQ's

Incandescent (traditional household bulbs) and Halogen bulbs both work in the same way, by superheating a tungsten filament until it glows to produce light. However where the difference lies is what the outer casing is made of. In an incandescent bulb, the casing is made from heat resistant glass filled with an inert gas. This combination limits how hot the filament can get which in turn limits how bright the bulb can get. With a halogen bulb, the outer casing is made from Quartz filled with a gas from the halogen group. This combination allows the filament to reach much higher temperatures resulting in brighter light output.
