PHA Broadcast User Review
The hallmark of a company has to be measured by the after sales service, which is why
Pixapro is right up there with the very best.
And so too is the equipment they sell. When PHA Broadcast decided to upgrade their
LED lighting kit Pixapro were the company they turned to and for good reason, the price and build quality are excellent.
PHA, who have made programme's for a lot of the leading broadcasters, were looking for LED panel lighting that could work effortlessly in both studio and location scenarios and for that they looked no further than the Pixapro VNIX LED 1000S.
This rugged 1000 led panel light (there's actually 1040 led's) with barn doors and a 32k CC filter, can be driven via the 12-24v power socket or a V-Lock battery. This unit is the Daylight Only model hence the supplied CC filter, however you could opt for the 1000B which is again 1000 led’s but is Bi Colour.
In the studio they aree powered via the supplied PSU which doesn't use a skimpy 3.5mm plug but instead employs a sturdy 2 pin socket which allows the plug from the PSU to be locked in place with a threaded cover which ensures the power cord stays exactly were it should – connected.
The CRI index is very high at 93 and with a dimming ratio of 10% to 100% and a lcd digital readout window, there is plenty of scope for getting the lighting just how you want it, which incidentally can be controlled by a 2.4GHz wireless radio remote control. There is also a DMX output to make adjustments through a DMX console.
We found the LED's to be much brighter than the previous 900 version and their longevity is impressive at 50,000 hours with a heat emission that is practically zero.
Size matters, and at 330mm x 210mm x 48.5mm they can operate in small areas while still providing a big output.
On location they travel very easy and light in the soft travel bag they are supplied with.
The V-lock attachment enables the lights to be battery operated in remote areas or simply by choice as a quick alternative power source.
The panels fit any standard 5/8 light stand spigot, and head adjustment tilt is simple and precise with the angle kept in position in a reliable no-nonsense way with the large wing nuts at each side.
PHA Broadcast bought several of these units but they are available as a singe item or in sets which offer great savings, and each unit has a further bonus of a full 2 year warranty.
Yang Wu and his team at Pixapro are great people to deal with either prior to ordering or, and perhaps more importantly, after purchasing. You won't be left high and dry afterwards by Pixapro and PHA Broadcast can vouch for that, they have given us an exceptional service.

In this Blog, we take a look into what equipment would be best for this type of videography, and offer the best support to create a success lighting set-up for interview videography.
When it comes to LED lighting, there are two designs which are the most common on the market. These are the LED Panel light and the LED Head light. Whilst both of these lights are designed to be incredibly useful and powerful, there are a few differences. In this Blog, we will look at these differences and help inform you as to which would best suit you, and we will use our VNIX1500S and LED100D MKIII as guides for this.
