Description

PLEASE NOTE: This video is not full a representation of what is included in this listing as some items are used for demonstration purposes only. Please see the “Specifications” tab for information on what this listing includes.

The PIXAPRO STORM II 400 (Godox QT400 II) is a High-Speed Studio Flash that uses Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) technology to achieve extremely short flash durations, as well as ultra-fast recycle times, which allows you to capture motion such as dancing, jumping and even water splashes with ease.

The IGBT Technology used in the STORM II 400, allows it to behave in a similar manner to most speedlites, where the flash durations become progressively shorter and shorter, as the flash power is decreased. The PIXAPRO® STORM II 400 can achieve flash durations of up to 1/35086 second. The IGBT technology also allows for super-fast recycling times. At full, power, the recycle times are similar to that of a regular flash head of its type at 1.2 seconds. As you start to reduce the power however, the recycle-times become faster and faster, with recycle times as fast as 0.05 seconds, which is fast enough to keep up with the Multi-Bust mode on most of DSLR cameras currently on the market. This feature allows you to capture a series of images in quick succession, giving you a higher chance of capturing the perfect shot. Great capturing subjects in motion, such as Dancers, Athletes and Martial Artists etc.

The STORM II 400 features a user-friendly interface, with large LCD screen, which enables you to quickly and easily change your flash settings. It features a variety of different flash modes including a High-Speed Sync mode (up to 1/8000 sec), and a multi-flash mode, which can be set to between 2 and 100 flashes at a frequency between 1 and 99Hz (flashes per second), which allows you to create many different effects such as stroboscopic photography.

The PIXAPRO® STORM II 400 features a built-in 2.4GHz ST-III receiver, which allows it to be used in conjunction with the optional ST-III TTL, or ECO 2.4 flash Triggers. This allows you to control your flash heads remotely, removing the need to go up and individually adjust every light in your set up, saving you precious time.

The PIXAPRO STORM II 400 uses an S-Type accessory mount, making it compatible with a wide range of accessories and modifiers. This compact and lightweight flash is perfect for people who shoot weddings, portraits, fashion, and for advertising. It is especially good for shooting children.

Stroboscopic Flash Mode

The Stroboscopic Flash feature causes your STORM II 600 to fire multiple low-powered flashes in rapid succession. Combined with a slow shutter speed, you are able to capture a sequence of im-ages of a moving subject in one exposure such as the one in the photo above.

Answer:

The ST-IV trigger will be compatible with the STORM400 II as this has a built in receiver that will allow you to use all the available features on this lights. However as this light does not have TTL, unfortunately you will be unable to use this feature. If you would like to use TTL, this can be achieved with our CITI600 which can be found here; https://www.essentialphoto.co.uk/product/pixapro-citi600-ttl-battery-flash/

Answer:

The flash power is stored in capacitors inside the flash head and are not produced by the flash tube itself, so using a using a flash tube with a lower wattage capacity could result in blowing the flash tube blowing and cause damage to your flash head.

If you would like to reduce the power of your flash even further, there are a few things that you can do:

  • You could move your lights further back from your subject (doubling the distance of your light will reduce your light’s exposure by approximately two stops).
  • You can add extra diffusion to your modifier (e.g. diffusion material from a softbox, or the diffuser inside a 5in1 reflector etc.).
  • You can use Neutral-Density (or ND) gel filter on your modifier which you can purchase from most theatre supply stockists. (Please note: do not place ND Gel too close to the modelling bulb as it could prove to be a fire hazzard).
  • You could use an ND filter on your camera’s lens to reduce the amount of light entering your lens.

Any of the above techniques, by themselves or in combination will enable you to further reduce the light output from your lights.

Answer:

While the screen at the back of your camera will give you a fair idea of how your photograph is going to look, it doesn’t give you an accurate representation of your exposure as the screen on the back of your camera isn’t calibrated. If need to see a more accurate representation of your photograph as you shoot, it is possible to connect most DSLR cameras to your computer which will give you a more accurate representation of your exposure (tethering to a computer with a calibrated screen is recommended).

In order to do this, you will need software that supports “Tethered Capture” (such as Adobe Lightroom or Apple Aperture etc.) and also some way of connecting your camera to your computer (usually via a USB cable).

Please NOTE: Not all cameras support Tethered Capture, and not all software that supports tethered capture supports all cameras. Check with the manufacturers beforehand.

Answer:

With our Pro AC Triggers, you have the ability to remotely control the Power Output of all of our flashes individually, or simultaneously in up to 16 different groups. This saves you from having to go up to each and every light individually to change the power of each light. It is also great for lights that are on a boom, removing the need to climb a ladder or to lower your boom to change the settings. You can also switch modelling lamps on and off with our triggers.

NOTE: Only compatible with PIXAPRO Studio Strobes and Portable Flashes.

Answer:

The Pixapro Storm heads all feature an intelligent slave mode (slave mode 2) which allows them to be triggered with a TTL speedlite or your Camera's pop-up flash. However your camera’s pop-up flash or speedlite can only be used to optically trigger the Pixapro Storm flashes.
