Description

PLEASE NOTE: This video is not full a representation of what is included in this listing as some items are used for demonstration purposes only. Please see the “Specifications” tab for information on what this listing includes.

The PIXAPRO PRO ST-III C equivalent to Godox's X1 TTL is a 2.4GHz Radio flash trigger system capable of transmitting TTL information designed for use with Canon EOS, or Nikon cameras and TTL Compatible flashes. The PIXAPRO PRO ST-III trigger set has a transmission range of approximately 100m in an open area, and since the transmitter and receivers use radio waves as opposed to Infra-red, you don’t need direct line of sight, and is not affected by bright Sunlight which can sometimes cause problems with optical slave systems.

As well as the traditional  A:B C ratio style interface, the PIXAPRO PRO ST-III also has a full GR Group style interface allowing up to 5 Groups to be individually set to either TTL, Manual, or Off. You also have the ability to mix TTL and Manual Groups if needed, which makes the PRO ST-III system very versatile. The ST-III system also has 32 separate channels, which enable you to use your ST-III trigger system in the vicinity of other photographers, without fear of accidentally triggering each other’s lights.

The PIXAPRO PRO ST-III supports TTL, HSS (High Speed Sync) and even has a HSS Pre-sync Timing Adjustment feature, which is great for those times where you need to increase your shutter-speed beyond your camera’s sync speed.

As well as being TTL Radio trigger system, the PIXAPRO PRO ST-III C can also be used as a wireless shutter release for your camera. It also features a PC sync cable socket enabling it to be used to trigger studio strobes. There is also a Micro USB port to enable you to update the ST-III’s Firmware as new technologies become available.

The perfect solution for the busy photographer who require a reliable TTL radio trigger system.

Reviews for PIXAPRO® PRO ST-III 2.4GHz TTL Trigger Set

More than happy

I'm super happy! Previously I had the Cactus V5 triggers and I'm glad I upgraded for the ones from Pixapro. It's very reponsive and easy to use. I don't loose time anymore configuring them. Building quality is also very good! I definitely recommend.

Questions & Answers

Answer:

By default, the ST-III won’t trigger the flash if placed within very close proximity to your flash (normally within approximately 30cm or so). Since the RIKO400 ring flash is generally used on-camera, which is too close for the ST-III to trigger. You can, however, switch your ST-III to 0-30m mode, which will enable you to shoot at very close proximity.

To do this, please ensure that your ST-III trigger is updated to at least the following versions: (ST-III C - V15, ST-III N - V16, ST-III S - V13). Now Press and hold the "TEST" button whilst switching the ST-III trigger on, until "STATUS" light blinks for 2 seconds. 0-30m mode should now be active.

Answer:

The Newer ST-III LCD screens can display the following:

  1. On the newer screens can diaplay 1/256
  2. On the newer screens can display strobe and rear curtain synchronization icons.
  3. On the newer screens, channels below CH10 display 1-9, with no "0" in front

If you have one of the older screens, you will see the following:

  1. The 1/256 setting, is displayed as 1/128- on the screen
  2. Does "NOT" display strobe or Rear-Curtain Sync icons
  3. Channels, channels below CH10 show 01-09.

Note: The old and new screens have the same functionality on any firmware version. Updating the firmware does not replace the old screen display with the new screen display.

Answer:

There are many things that could possibly cause your flash to mis-fire. Here are a few possible reasons and solutions:

  1. Interference: - The signal from the ST-III trigger can be disrupted by any other devices that use a similar frequency (e.g. wireless base station, 2.4G Wi-Fi router, Bluetooth etc).

The best solution would be to use a different channel using the CH button setting on the flash trigger. We recommend using a channel that is ±10, or more for a better chance of resolving the interference (e.g. If you are currently using Channel 1, try using Channel 11 or higher). and use the channel which is not disturbed.

If you have the option to, try turning off any other devices that maybe using a 2.4GHz signal also.

  2.

  3. Ensure that the flash has fully recycled: - If you are shooting in quick succession, and you find that you are getting mis-fires, there is a chance that you haven’t given the flash enough time to recycle or to catch up with the continuous shooting speed. Also check that your light hasn’t gone in to over-heat protection mode, or that there isn’t any other abnormal situation.

To remedy this, try using your flash at a lower power setting. If the flash is in TTL mode, please try switching it to Manual mode, as a pre-flash is needed in TTL mode, which can slow the rate of fire slightly.

  4.

  5. Your Flash Trigger is in very close proximity to the flash: - By default, the ST-III won’t trigger the flash if placed within very close proximity to your flash (normally within approximately 30cm or so).

If you are required to shoot at very close proximity to your flash, you can switch your ST-III to 0-30m mode. To do this, please ensure that your ST-III trigger is updated to at least the following versions: (ST-III C - V15, ST-III N - V16, ST-III S - V13). Now Press and hold the "TEST" button whilst switching the ST-III trigger on. simultaneously until "STATUS" light blinks for 2 seconds. 0-30m mode should now be active.

  6.

  7. Battery Levels: - If your batteries are running low, there is a chance that the batteries can’t provide enough power to send a signal. In this situation, please replace the battery (we recommended 1.5V disposable alkaline batteries).

A new ID feature has been added to later firmware revisions, to further reduce the chance of signal interference. Simply assign matching IDs to your Trigger and all of your flashes (Currently only available on battery flashes).

Answer:

This is because the Nikon flash system doesn’t allow the signal from the camera’s hot-shoe to be transmitted to the flash. Therefore, when using ST-III N, your Nikon Speedlite needs to be set to “TTL” mode to calculate the other modes and outputs etc.

The Canon flash system on the other hand, does allow the signal from the camera’s hot-shoe to be transmitted to the flash. Therefore, the ST-III C trigger can control the flash modes and outputs etc.

Answer:

To remotely switch on the modeling lamp with the ST-III trigger, simply Double-click the CH button, and so long as the channel is the same as the flash, it should turn on. Please be aware that you cannot control the power of the modeling lamp from the trigger.

Answer:

To Reset the ST-III receiver back to default factory settings, simply press and hold the "TEST" button whilst switching the ST-III receiver on, and it should reset everything back to default.

Answer:

First, please ensure that your ST-III trigger is updated to at least the following versions: (ST-III C - V15, ST-III N - V16, ST-III S - V13). Now Press and hold the "TEST" button whilst switching the ST-III trigger on. simultaneously until "STATUS" light blinks for 2 seconds. 0-30m mode should now be active.

Answer:

You can if you have Firmware v15 or later installed on your trigger set (You can check by what version of the firmware you have by holding the button as you switch the ubit on).

To control the power of your Nikon flash, you need to set Nikon flash TTL mode, and then you can manually control the power from your ST-III trigger.

If you require the latest firmware update for your ST-III trigger system, you can download it from our Firmware Downloads page.

Answer:

The AF assist beam function can normally only be used with Nikon’s own flashes. To remedy this, we recommend using the AF lamp built-in to the camera. First turnoff the AF assist function on the ST-III transmitter (C.Fn-06 set it to 0)?then turn on the AF focusing function on your camera (please refer to your camera’s instruction manual for more information.

Answer:

Unfortunately the ST-III can not automatically switch the Canon 580EX II to high speed sync mode. To use HSS, you will have to switch youe 580EX III to HSS mode manually first.
