The PIXAPRO on Camera LED-170 LED light can be used for both shooting video and stills. It is small, light-weight and portable, and can be mounted onto any stand with a 1/4inch thread (such as a tripod or lighting stand), or can be mounted onto your camera’s hot-shoe.

The Hot-Shoe mount features a Tilt head, allowing you to tilt your light forwards and backwards. The hot-shoe mount also features a 1/4inch thread, allowing you to connect it to a light stand as well as allowing you to mount it onto a hot-shoe.

It features 170 LED bulbs which collectively can produce light of approximately 2700 lux in brightness. You can change the colour-temperature of the lights by using one of the two colour correction filters included with this light. This allows you to easily balance your lights with the other lights in your shooting environment. The brightness can also be controlled steplessly.

LED170 can be powered by either 8x AA Batteries, any Sony NP-F  series rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery, or a DC6V~12V power adapter.

This is an essential piece of it for any photographer or videographer, and for both amateurs and professionals alike.

Questions & Answers

Lumens (also known as Luminous Flux) is a measure of how much light is produced by a particular light source. In other words, “How bright a bulb or tube actually is”. Whether you’re 1m or 100m away from the light, the amount of lumens being produced by the light source remains constant.

Lux on the other hand is a measure of the apparent intensity of light falling on a surface at a given distance. Unlike Lumens where the amount of lumens remains constant regardless of distance from the light source, the amount of lux falling onto a surface will increase the closer you move it is to your light source, and will decrease the further you move it away from your light source.

To sum it all up, and Lux takes the area over which the luminous flux is spread at a given distance into consideration, and Lumens is a measure of the amount of light being emitted from light source regardless of its distance from a surface.
