The PIXAPRO® Li-ION580II Manual equivalent to Godox's Ving V850II is a powerful Manual speedlite. Unlike traditional speedlites which are powered by 4x AA batteries, the Li-ION580II Manual uses a rechargeable 2000mAh Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) rechargeable battery. Since it is powered by a Li-ion battery as opposed to AA batteries, it has ultra-fast recycling times of up to 1.5 seconds at full power with virtually no slowdown as the power as the battery power diminishes.  The battery can power up to approximately 650 full-power flashes per charge, removing the need for bulky external battery packs, or a bags of AA batteries.

As well as being powered by a Li-Ion battery, the PIXAPRO® Li-ion580 II Manual also features a Built-In 2.4GHz receiver making it fully compatible with the Pixapro ST-III or ECO2.4 flash trigger system. The PIXAPRO® Li-ion580 II Manual, together the Pro ST-III or ECO2.4 triggers have a massive working range of up to 100m in an open area. You also have a choice of 32 different channel, and 5x groups giving you maximum flexibility for your photographic projects.

The Li-ION580II Manual also has other features High-Speed Sync up to 1/8000 sec, (requires ST-III or ECO2.4 Flash Triggers – Not Available On-camera), as well as a Second-Curtain Sync mode.

The PIXAPRO® Li-ION580II Manual Speedlite has an 8-stop power range (1/1 to 1/128 power) adjustable in 1/3 stop increments, with flash durations between 1/300 second to 1/20,000 second (dependant on flash power output) which opens up a whole world of possibilities. It also features a variety of different flash modes. This includes a multi-flash mode, which can be set to between 1 and 100 flashes at a frequency between 1 and 199Hz (flashes per second), which allows you to create many different effects such as stroboscopic photography. It features a user-friendly interface, with a large LCD screen with large, easy to access buttons and a control dial, which allows you to quickly and easily adjust your flash settings.

This is the Speedlite that both amateur and professional photographers have been waiting for a long time.

High Speed Sync Mode allows your flash to sync at higher shutter-speeds than normal. Great for times when you want to lower the exposure of the bright sky, and to fill your subject in with flash, or if you want to shoot with a wide-open aperture in the midday Sun.

Questions & Answers

This will be caused by one of two things:

  • You may have set your flash to the "OFF" position, which can be done by going past 1/128 power on the dial.

  • You have deactivated the group that corresponds to your speedlite on your trigger, which wil cause the flash not to fire (This saves you from having to go up to the flash and physically switch it off).

Li-ion580II set to "OFF" mode

ST-III Trigger with Groups Deactivated.

Losing about a stop of power when using High-Speed Sync (HSS) mode compared to the flash output when not using HSS mode is normal. HSS works by rapidly pulsing the light from the flash (quicker than the eye can see) so that light gets to all parts of the sensor, which gives you even flash coverage across the entire sensor. However HSS it does have a few drawbacks:

  • Since the Light has to pulse, you do lose a fair bit of flash output, meaning that you will have to compensate by moving your flash closer to your subject.
  • It also requires a fair amount of power to perform High-Speed sync, which drains your batteries quicker than normal.

To see a more in-depth explaination of how High-Speed Sync works, please refer to our True High-Speed Sync vs Long Tail High-Speed Sync Blog Post

Yes, it does, but you require the correct PIXAPRO trigger to make this work properly.

This can work with either the PIXAPRO ST-III/ST-IV,ECO2.4GHz or the Godox X1 & XPRO triggers.

Yes, this flash can do High-Speed sync, up to 1/8000Sec (But it requires either ST-III or ECO 2.4 Flash Triggers)

This isn’t possible, this Flash can only be used with ST-III or ECO 2.4 Flash Triggers.

Unfortunately not, you will need to purchase either the ECO 2.4, ST-III or the ST-IV

The Li-ION580 MKII Manual comes with a rechargeable battery as well as a battery charger.

It works perfectly as a receiver as long as it is connected to the correct ST-III trigger.

This flash is a manual so it is not possible to use it as a TTL no matter what trigger you use with it.

Press and hold the <mode> button untill the wireless symbol (circled in red) flashes. Once it is flashing, use the scroll wheel to select the [S] Symbol (circled in yellow). Once selected, press the <Set> button at the centre of the scroll wheel confirm your settings.

So long as your channels match on the trigger and on the speedtlite, your trigger should now be able to talk to your speedlite.

Li-Ion580II Manual Screen

This will be compatible with the Canon 5D MKIII however you will not be able to use HSS when used on camera, for this you will need our ST-III or ECO2.4GHz trigger. If you would like to use HSS and also TTL, our Li-Ion580 MKII ETTL speedlite will allow you to do this.
