Today we compare two flashes, the CITI600 PRO and the PROFOTO B1X, to see which flash comes out on top.
The CITI600 PRO Battery Powered 600Ws is the ideal tool for any photographer’s arsenal, giving super-fast recycle times and an impressive 370 full powered shots per charge.
The PIXAPRO CITI 600 PRO (Godox Witstro AD600 Pro) is a revolutionary battery powered portable monolight that features true TTL and High-Speed sync functionality for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and Fujifilm cameras. The PIXAPRO CITI 600 features a new and improved self-contained rechargeable Battery, meaning that the battery is attached directly to the body of the strobe, instead of having a separate battery pack. It also features a built-in 2.4GHz advanced receiver compatible with the PIXAPRO ONE System, giving you more reliability with your trigger and usable at 80m away from the flash.
The PIXAPRO CITI 600 PRO is a powerful 600Ws flash with a guide number of 87m at ISO100 with the standard reflector attached. Its 28.8V / 2600mAh rechargeable Lithium-ion battery pack will give you approximately 360 full-powered shots per charge. The CITI600 is capable producing short flash durations of between 1/220 second to 1/10,000 second (dependant on flash power output), whilst maintaining colour accuracy throughout its power range with the super stable colour output which opens up a whole world of possibilities. It also has an ultra-short recycling times of between 0.01 and 0.90 seconds, that’s less than a second!.
The CITI600 PRO has a new and improved LED modelling lamp, the 38W bulb will give you the equivalent output to 400W tungsten, giving you Proportional, Variable and Synced control of your modelling light.
The CITI 600’s user-friendly interface, with large Dot-Matrix LCD screen enables you to quickly and easily change your flash settings with the use of large, easy to access buttons and a control dial.
The PIXAPRO CITI600 features a variety of different flash modes including a High-Speed Sync mode (up to 1/8000 sec), Second-Curtain Sync, Flash-Exposure Compensation, and Flash Exposure Bracketing (up to ±3 stops). It also includes a multi-flash mode, which can be set to between 2 and 100 flashes at a frequency between 1 and 100Hz (flashes per second), which allows you to create many different effects such as stroboscopic photography.
The Bowens S-Type accessory mount enables it to be used with a wide range of modifiers, to account for every possible lighting requirement in your studio.
The PIXAPRO CITI600 is the perfect solution for the photographer who requires the speed and simplicity of a TTL speedlite, but also requires the power of a studio monolight for use on location.
PLEASE NOTE: The High-Speed Sync feature on the CITI600 TTL requires either an ST-III TTL Trigger or an ECO2.4 Trigger to work. You can also use a Canon ETTL, Nikon iTTL, or Sony TTL Masterflash to trigger it optically.

The Pixapro PowerCore600 portable flash is compatible with any S-Type Fitting softbox. I will list a couple of the smallest ones that we do, however it should be okay with some of the larger ones also:
60x90cm Non-Recessed Softbox - Click Here
This is a medium sized softbox, great for shooting one or two people. Whilst it can be used for full body, but ideally used for 3/4 length or half body shots.
60x90cm Recessed Softbox with 5cm Grid - Click Here
Same effect as the previous softbox, but also comes with a removable grid which allows you to control the spread of light.
60x90cm Recessed Softbox with 4cm Grid - Click Here
Similar effect as the previous softbox, but uses an easy open Umbrella-Like mechanism instead of using rods and a ring, which makes setting up a lot quicker and easier to set up.
If you are required to shoot at a relatively fast rate, try opening up your aperture, or raising your ISO a couple of stops (e.g. 1/4 power at ISO400 instead of full power at ISO100), which will put less stress on your flash unit.

Amazing kit at sensible prices
I have two of these units and they are so good that I have just purchased another in the form of the slightly updated 600+. I use them primarily for weddings and location portraits and can honestly say that they are amazing. Being Bowens 'S' fit they will accept a ton of inexpensive modifiers and will also fit brollys. They are powerful enough to overpower the sun, they are nice and portable and easy to store. I looked at the competition (Rangers, Quadras, Profotos) at the high end and also other brands at the lower end (Lencarta Safari etc). But I couldn't get past the value for money on offer here. I thought that I would buy these units and then if I needed to I could upgrade to Profotos or Quadras, but what's the point, these do the job and are more than half the price - plus so far in nearly 10 months use they haven't missed a beat. I love them!
