How To Assemble the Daylite 4 60x80cm Rectangular Softbox
The DAYLiTE4 MKIII 3400W Twin Head kit is a convenient and economical solution for your photographic and video lighting needs. Due to the design of the constant light, it allows you to easily attach and remove the modifiers, this means it can be used with softboxes, reflectors or even umbrellas giving you a lot of versatility with your lighting. With an impressive 3400W equivalent with the energy efficient CFL bulbs, you can use this light for shooting portraits, still life, product photography or even videos, interviews, commercial or Vlogs. With an impressive power output and accurate consistent results, this is the ideal continuous kit for any photographer or videographer studio.
Each DAYLiTE4 MKIII unit features 4 lamp sockets which is compatible with a traditional E27 screw fitting and can be used with the included 8x 85W 5500K Daylight balanced Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs. The CFL produces light equivalent in brightness to approximately 5x the power of conventional tungsten bulb, which means you can achieve an impressive 1700W equivalent each unit for a total of 3400W e.g. 85W CFL = 425W tungsten. The energy efficient CFL bulbs also produce less heat so they are not uncomfortable for the model and have a longer life span compared to traditional tungsten bulbs (up to 10,000 hours).
As our CFL bulbs are daylight balanced at 5500K, this means they are great to use to replicate or alongside natural lighting. With a CRI (colour rendition index) of 90, the lights are sure to give you a natural colour reproduction for your images and videos. This means that you won’t see any light fluctuations or exposure inconsistencies in what you are shooting for accurate consistent lighting.
The DAYLiTE4 MKIII features user friendly controls which allow you to easily adjust the light output between half and full power via two switches on the back of the unit, that control the power going to the bulbs in sets of two.
The DAYLiTE4 MKIII constant light features a unique modifier mount to attach the included 60x80cm softbox with diffuser which has a highly reflective interior to maximise light-efficiency. Due to its large surface area and rectangular shape, this Softbox produces soft even lighting, which wraps around your subject to create flattering results, ideal for portrait photography and large enough for full body shots and for photographing large objects.
The DAYLiTE4 MKIII is fully tiltable and can be mounted vertically or horizontally onto any standard light stand with a 5/8" stud giving you many possibilities with your using this continuous light in a studio.
This kit includes 2x DAYLiTE4 MKIII Head Units, 2x 60x80cm Softboxes, 8x 85W Fluorescent bulbs, 2x Light Stands
The DAYLITE4 MKIII 3400W twin head kit includes everything you will need in lighting, with powerful accurate daylight balanced lighting they are ideal for most shooting options from portraits, still life, product photography or even videos, interviews, commercial, Vlogs, or advertising.

Unlike Tungsten or Halogen bulbs where you can vary the current flowing through the filament to control the brightness (the more electricity flowing through it, the hotter and brighter the filament becomes), Fluorescent lights work by sending an electrical current through an inert gas contained within the tube, which excites the molecules in the gas which produces light.
Although you are unable to vary the brightness of the bulbs themselves, you are able to switch the bulbs on and off in groups of two. You can also control the intensity of the light hitting your subject by moving your light source closer or moving it further away from your subject.
However, if you are shooting at a different frame rate such as 30fps or 60fps (Used in NTSC territories such as North America) or 24fps (most commonly used in movies) then only certain shutter speeds/ shutter angles will result in flicker free footage, as each frame will receive slight variations in light, which records as flicker in your footage (unless you use certain shutter speeds/shutter angles to counteract differences).
If you are shooting at a frame rate higher than pulse rate of the light (any frame rate higher than 100fps in the UK and Europe), then there isn’t anything that you can do to remedy the flicker in your footage.
Lux on the other hand is a measure of the apparent intensity of light falling on a surface at a given distance. Unlike Lumens where the amount of lumens remains constant regardless of distance from the light source, the amount of lux falling onto a surface will increase the closer you move it is to your light source, and will decrease the further you move it away from your light source.
To sum it all up, and Lux takes the area over which the luminous flux is spread at a given distance into consideration, and Lumens is a measure of the amount of light being emitted from light source regardless of its distance from a surface.
