It features a built-in lens, which enables you to focus or de-focus the light to produce softer or crisper projections, depending on the type of look you are trying to achieve. It can also be used in conjunction with the included selection of coloured gels for creative effects.
Optical Snoot projectors are commonly used by fashion, portrait and editorial photographers, as well as product photographers as the light, can be focused to highlight specific areas of the product.

The main purpose of the optical snoot is able to project patterns onto your subject or background, to produce creative and dramatic effects with your strobe or LED studio light.
The optical snoot will not give 100% power output of the light as many other light modifiers e.g. softbox and it will depend how efficient of the modifier is. Distance to subject will also affect the lighting output.
Optical snoots are made of different layers glass lens as well as using with focus lens, which will reduce power out of the light. We would advise to use lens with at least F 1.8 aperture. With this set up, you should be able to create a sharp edge and a soft edge (see images) by changing the focus of the lens.
