Excellent products

This basic kit is what caught my attention to check into the MagMod line of flash diffusers with Kickstarter. The magnetic holder I was a bit skeptical about this but soon changed my mind. It is the easiest set of flash diffusers to use ever. Much more so than the other kind I did use….

Awesome outdoor light modifier !!!

MagMod is an awesome outdoor light modifier, it´s small, lightweight and very handy. It’s a bit difficult to attach it to the flashgun, but it never falls, so it’s a good thing. The only thing I might say I don’t like is that it is a dust attractor. But having it well stored will resolve the problem, or just washing it. I find it very quick and really great device in it´s class.

Time for some change for your speedlite accessories!

The days of sticking velcro to my speed lights is over! This system is the best thing for photographers who love to work with speed lights. Having one light modifier system that can do it all. When I saw the demo on YouTube I was sold. This was a no brainer for me. Well built and great soft light from a small light modifier. Placing my order for the Mag-Bounce after this review.

Love this kit, but could be better...

Love this kit. The grip fits snuggly on each of my different flash units (Canon 580EXII, 580EX & 430EXIIs, and Neweer TT850 & TT60s) with no risk of falling off or slipping. The grids are awesome, the ease of stacking and mixing with gels makes unique shots possible during the chaos of a busy wedding day.
The only downside is that after swapping the MagGrip component on and off of several units, some fissures have started to develop and I’m afraid that it may rip. This may be user error on my part as I have taken them on and off about a dozen times depending on which flash units I needed to use, but a more durable rubber may prevent this in the future.

As easy as 1,2,3....

I had been using other products for gels and grids till this day and I was always put off with the complexity of using these other products and most of the times just simply always avoided using them. but now this is just as easy as 1,2,3… cannot get any better. Just a tiny glitch which I see is the fact that when used on the sb-910, the tiny plastic grip of the built-in flash diffuser keeps the grid and/or gel holder slightly high above the flash head and light leaks from that space and contaminates the image and is the worst when I am bouncing light to the ceiling and I get a narrow beam of light spilled right on the subject and if flash is gelled CTO, the spilled light will be more blue. but something small which I solved with some tape quite easily – but nonetheless could be a fix in the future for it.

Fantastic Result !!!!

I bought a few of these kits last summer to give it a try. I knew about it from the very beginning of the kickstarter campaign, but I waited to start seeing results from some of the photographers that were using them before deciding to order mine. As soon as I got them I started playing around with the grids and got some really cool images from the very first shoot with them and my clients were thrilled with the results. Being this was my first time ever trying grids, I was hoping to find more tutorial type information to get a better understanding of how to use the grids to get results I see some very talented photographers getting, but I had limited information available to me for learning, so all I could do was experiment a little but I try not to do too much of that with my clients since I like to use techniques while working with clients that I am more experienced with as it’s not the time to be fumbling and taking too long fiddling with equipment and settings, etc. I will say I have embraced this system as part of my photography lighting kit. I have experimented with using the gels and learning how to balance color temperature and this system has made it that much easier to take control of the color temperature with great results. I have found that this system is easy to use, simply attaching or removing with no struggle making me a more efficient photographer. It might not be the cheapest system out there, but it is definitely the most efficient I have used.

Easy and Convenient

MagMod modifiers are so easy and convenient to use that I tend to push myself harder creatively.

MagMod Review

MagMod has been making quite buzz in the industry over the last year and there is good reason why. As they say on their website, "MagMod is the simplest, easiest, strongest and fastest speedlite modifier system, period."

Questions & Answers

Answer:

The MagGrip is made from silicone rubber, and is designed to stretch over the head of your speedlite. With the exception of larger Hammerhead styled speedlites, and some of the very small speedlites (such as the Nikon SB400 or the Canon 270EX etc.). The MagGrip should fit pretty much all speedlites on the market.

Answer:

The magnets won't cause any issues with your camera gear. The only thing you may have to worry about is if you are using a laptop with that uses a mechanical hard disk drive, but Laptops that use Solid State Drives (SSD) should have no problems.
