Weight and Dimensions

One of the main differences between these units is their weight and size. Compared with the TL60 tube light which is lighter and smaller with Ø48mm 750mm of dimension and 730g of weight. The compact design also allows you to place the lighting unit in hard-to-reach areas. It is perfect for making sure your subject receives perfect light coverage. The T120 tube light is heavier and bigger to use with dimensions of Ø48mm 1170mm and a weight of 1.27kg. In contrast, the TL180 is the heaviest of the four lights at 2.21kg and 51 x 1800mm. And finally, the TL30 offers the lowest weight at 0.3kg with 42mm x 300mm.

The main reason comes with the difference between these lights is the different power output provided. The innovation of each tube light also improved the power output. The TL180 is the most powerful of the four units offering the 55W, the TL120 is the next with a  power output of 30W. Whereas, the T30 is the last on this list with only 8W. The power consumption of the T60 is slightly more than the T30 at 18W.

Again, as with the previously mentioned lighting series, the different power output comes with the different brightness produced. When comparing the overall brightness of these lighting units at 1m, it is surprising, that the TL120 offers the lowest brightness of 678 Lux. Of course, the following brightness is the TL30 at 740 Lux. While the TL60 produced the highest brightness of these lighting units when measured at 1m is 1500 Lux.

Each lighting unit is a built-in different battery which also leads to the difference between them. The TL30 has a built-in 3.6V/2900mAh Lithium battery with a runtime of about 1 hour on maximum power. While the TL60 tube light has a built-in 14.4V/2600mAh Lithium battery with a runtime of about 2 hours on maximum power, making it ideal for long sessions. Moreover, the TL60 also includes a mains power adaptor allowing plugged in and used continuously. With the same mains power adapter but a different lithium battery at 14.4V/2600mAh with a runtime of approximately 160 minutes. It is quite similar to the TL120 at the runtime is approximately 150 minutes and built-in with 14.4V/5200mAh/74.88Wh.

Final Thoughts

The Godox TL tube light series is a great device which unleashes your creativity for many photography applications. Each lighting unit shares slightly similar specifications but the difference comes from the overall light quality, dimension and size.
