Description

PLEASE NOTE: This video is not full a representation of what is included in this listing as some items are used for demonstration purposes only. Please see the “Specifications” tab for information on what this listing includes.

The 120cm softbox with the honey comb grid is an essential accessory for any lighting system. Octagonal softbox is ideal for portraiture and group shots the rounder shape giving a pleasing catch-light in the eye.

The honey comb grid, also called egg crate, will result in a narrower spread of light which can be positioned directly onto the subject without light spilling on the background. The grid is very simple to attach using the wide Velcro strips on the inside of the softbox. With this quality softbox, it comes with 5cm honey comb grid. The honey comb cells are much deeper than most and hold their shape extremely well.

The interior has a reflective silver surface, together with the front and inner diffuser to provide an even, softer pool of light. This grid softbox can also be packed down into a carry bag when not in use.

Traditional setup softbox ideal for studio use

We also have the Easy setup version that can be found HERE.

Please note the flash unit and stand are not included with this listing.

Questions & Answers

Answer:

The Honeycomb grids (sometimes referred to as Egg Crates) are used to control the spread of light. The smaller the grid, the more concentrated the beam will be. These are ideal if you don’t want the light to spill onto certain parts of your set such as the background.

Answer:

Octagonal boxes (or Octaboxes) and Traditional softboxes pretty much work in the same way, but due to their octagonal shape, Octaboxes focus the light a little better than a square or rectangular softbox does, giving you a slightly better light output. Octagonal softboxes also produce more pleasing round catch lights in the eyes of your subjects.

Answer:

Our Softbox speedrings are all comprised of two separate parts. The Outer-Ring which is ther part where the softbox rods are inserted into, and an Inner-Ring which features the bayonet firring for your studio flash head (the Inner-rings will vary in appearence depending on the fitting that you have chosen).

  1. First place the two parts on a surface with the four thumb screws facing upwards on the outer ring as shown in the photo below
  2. Remove all of the thumb-screws and place your inner ring in the centre of the outer ring bayonet side up as shown in the photo below.
  3. Once the inner-ring is in place, replace all of the thumb-screws to secure the Inner Ring in place as shown below.
  4. Your speedring is now complete and ready for use with your softbox.

Answer:

All of the different types of softboxes in this range use the same speed ring, which is why there are more holes than there are rods for your particular softbox.

Please see the diagram below which shows you which holes should be used for each type of softbox.
